As a taxi driver, I often need a caffeine kick on the go. I drive mostly at night, when relatively few coffee houses or fast food drive-throughs are open. Now, getting that quick cup of coffee on the move has been taken to new, great heights with the inception of in-car coffee makers. In early 2012, a Danish innovator introduced the first-ever espresso machine for in-car use.
This portable coffee maker, smartly named the Handpresso Auto Mobile, first went on sale in France for about $150 last year. In about two minutes, you can have an instant caffeine fix in the comfort of your own car.

For me, this gadget has proved invaluable since I endure long trips in my car without breaks or a Starbucks in sight. Of course, for safety purposes, I need to pull over to operate the in-car espresso maker, especially when pouring the coffee. My hat goes off to Henrik Neilson, a self-proclaimed coffee addict just like me, who designed this quirky concept. Sadly, the inventor recently passed, but not in vein—his gadget has made a huge splash and is an economical game-changer for taxi drivers, truck drivers, and even commuters on the go.
